Hi my name is Peter Watson and I am employed by Church Army as a youth and Children’s outreach worker for St Michaels Church West Andover.   If like me you have browsed at Your Community Centre program to see what happens there during the week, you may have seen the yellow block marked youth group. If you have wondered what goes on at youth group on Wednesday between 5.45 and 7.15pm during term time read on.    Well the youth group is called Buzz and I have been leading the group with Chris, Paula and Fiona since moving to Burghclere down in August 2008.   The Buzz youth group has been steadily been growing over this time and we are planning to start a younger group called Splat which will start at 4-15pm. Until then we have decided to open the Buzz youth group to those children who are 7 and over.      So I would like to openly invite all children and young people who are over the age of seven to come and see if they enjoy Buzz.   So what happens at Buzz?   Buzz is some where for young people and children to meet each other so we make time at the beginning of the meeting to do just that. Those who don’t want to can join in with a game of football or dodge ball or some other game they might want to play.   At Buzz we want to encourage young people and children to have some choice but the most important thing to us is that they enjoy themselves in a safe environment. There are many fun activities we like to include in the Buzz program such as active ball games, craft activities, cooking, and discussing life issues, these are just some of them.   The Buzz group uses Bible based material that is relevant to life issues, and decisions that are affecting children and young people as they are growing up. We have lots of great discussions, watching movie clips, and discovering that we are valued by God in so many ways.   The children and young people at Buzz have been on outside activities such as a youth event called Youthquake, ice skating, ten pin bowling and swimming.
